Why we made this
Our favourite all-rounder, the Overland Sleeping Bag features a lightweight Pertex® Quantum shell and HyperDRY™ water-resistant down fill for warmth in cool, potentially damp conditions.
  • Product Description
Designed for comfort when you're on overnight hikes during the warmer months, the Overland 400 provides a combination of warmth, weather resistance and a compact size. Constructed with a lightweight Pertex® Quantum outer shell and filled with premium 650 loft HyperDRY™ water-resistant duck down, the Overland performs well in cool, potentially damp, conditions. With a tapered semi-rectangular shape and horizontal baffles, the down is securely and evenly distributed throughout the sleeping bag. Like all of our products, this sleeping bag is filled with down certified by the Responsible Down Standard (RDS) — an independent, voluntary global standard in the ethical sourcing of down and feathers — so you can feel good about feeling warm. The Overland includes a waterproof vacuum seal sack and a large mesh storage sack.

Good bag.
I highly doubt my bag was a -7°C bag.
I (fairly solid male) slept in thermals, pants, a light fleece top and a down jacket in a 4 season alpine tent in 0C° to -1C° before reaching some kind of thermal comfort.

Maybe I had a dud, its bound to happen one slips through the cracks.

However, there are pros.
The pertex fabric, stitching and dry bag are of absolute quality. I think if you're car camping or a bit rough with your gear, this bag is perfect as I feel it's quite durable. It is of a very reasonable weight and size. Great back for school camps, great for traveling. Im 6ft 2in fairly broad shoulders and I had room to wiggle.

Macpac was great and refunded the bag I purchased. Something Macpac does well is keeping customers happy and therfore returning.

4 Stars for quality of materials.
3 stars for warmth rating of MY BAG.
5 Stars for customer satisfaction.

Overall 4 stars.

I bought this sleeping bag on a recommendation from one of the staff in the chch Westfield store and I'm glad I listened to her as I do a lot of 4x4 exploring and sleeping in a swag tent on the ground up in some extremely cold areas and this bag has performed flawlessly, not once have a felt to cold even when camping in -5°C temperatures overnight, it packs down to a nice small package so I can even use it on overnight hiking trips aswell.
All around great design and would highly recommend.

Great and comfy and enough room. Haven’t tried it in the cold yet but it was too hot indoors in Rotorua in July. Will update next camp trip. I feel like it won’t be as warm as I thought it would be.

Great product
Slept like a baby in it during Tongariro Northern Circuit while over 70 km/h winds were shaking the hut walls I couldn't stop smiling feeling humble and protected inside this super lightweght sleeping bag.

Does this unzip all the way to become a flat blanket?
Sarah on Jun 23, 2020

Thank you for your question.

The zip on this item is only a ⅘ zip and doesn't go around the foot box so it would not become flat.

Thanks - the Macpac Team
Does this bag really have only 470 grams of fill? For an overall weight of 1kg+? Surely more like 740g. What would be the rest?
Paul A on Sep 8, 2020

Thanks for your enquiry.

Yes, the fill weight for this item is 470g.

The rest of the weight includes other parts used to make the bag as per below.

Elastic cord and cordlocks (for cinching in around the head)
Fabric, 30D outer and 33d inner
Scrim (the fabric used to keep the down in place in a boxed baffle)

We hope this helps!

Thanks - the Macpac Team
Can you zip this sleeping bag up with the standard mens version?

Yes you can, however legs compartments going to be separated and a height variance should accrue as well.

Kind regards,
The Macpac Team!
Will 2 of these zip together?
Zak W on May 24, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, we have 2 of these and they zip up together! Just note to visualise that it looks more like a fish tail (split ends) and not one big rectangle, so each person gets his/her own ‘legs compartment’.
