Why we made this
One of nature’s finest fibres, merino wool provides natural temperature regulation and odour resistance — that's why these Long Johns are made from merino wool with just a hint of elastane for everyday comfort.
  • Product Description
Soft merino Long Johns made from an ultralight merino wool/elastane blend for everyday comfort — one of nature’s finest fibres, merino wool provides natural temperature regulation and odour resistance. As a breathable fibre, merino wool absorbs moisture vapour, transporting it away from your skin before allowing it to evaporate into the air, helping to keep you comfortable for longer. Grown on the backs of merino sheep, merino wool is a naturally renewable and biodegradable fibre that doesn't itch, so it's great for making versatile baselayers like these Long Johns. With elastane for added stretch, they are ideal for winter travelling or casual wear.

Laddered, ripped and holy
BEWARE : I bought multiple pairs of these, because they are merino and a good weight and texture BUT every single pair has ripped along the junction of waistband elastic and merino wool fabric; laddered back front everywhere; and developed holes.

Perfect. Warm and comfortable.
Perfect fit. Warm and comfortable. Ideal for outdoors on cold winter days - combined with a tunic top for Yoga, under hiking pants for outdoors or worn with a skirt and boots for stylish comfort.

too small
I measured them to be on the loose side, but they turned out to be both shorter in the leg and tighter at the waist than the measurements said they'd be. So, not actually what I was hoping for in sleep comfort.

Love, love love them. I wear a Canadian size 6 but ordered size ten based on the sizing guidelines and they fit perfectly. Just received them and haven't taken them off since our winter has arrived.

Love them but they had a hole in them within a fortnight
I love these long johns but they are very thin and when I first put them on, I was worried that would get holes in them easily. Thus, very frustrated to find two weeks later I have managed to get a hole in them whilst just wearing them inside and with no sharp zips or fasteners.
Otherwise, they are great!

Bought two pairs, both have ripped.
I bought two of these late last year for light layering use, I haven't even used them for hiking. The first pair ripped up by the waistband on the second wear, and my other pair have just given out after at most being worn 10 times. I'm not sure if the merino just isn't thick enough? Macpac has offered to refund both times so great customer service, but actual product quality isn't the best. The pure merino shirts on the other hand have been great.

Itchy and scratchy
I wanted a lightweight merino thermal, so chose this option (lightweight but 5% artificial fibre). The fabric is itchy and leads to burning feeling next to the skin. I have no problems with the macpac 100% merino thermal singlets, so assume it's the 5% manmade fabric that is causing the itch/burn. I won't be buying any mixed fibre base layers from macpac in the future.

Hi there, are these mid-rise or high-rise in the waist? Also are they full length in the leg?

BEST ANSWER: Hi Jen R

These are high-rise in the waist, and they are full length in the leg (reaches to ankle).

Thanks, The Macpac Team!
