Macpac Men's Mercury Hooded Down Jacket
A$319.99 Sale A$149.99
  • Product Description
The Mercury Hooded Down Jacket is a warm insulation layer that’s perfect for urban wear and travel. Made from a lightweight nylon fabric — complete with bluesign® certification — and filled with 650 loft RDS duck down, this jacket is constructed to provide warmth throughout your upper body, arms and head. Like all our other down products, we've chosen to use Responsible Down Standard (RDS) certified duck down because we support the ethical sourcing of down and feathers. To aid heat retention, we've added a soft elastic binding to the cuffs, hood and hem, effectively helping to trap heat against your body. The jacket has two zipped hand pockets and the regular fit means you can add additional layers underneath or throw a hard shell on over the top. A small stuff sack is included for easy packing.

I am after a “thin” down jacket, one that isn’t large and bulky as I still want to do activities in it and not feel like the Michelin Man. Any suggestions?
Jimbo on Apr 6, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hi James,

We understand your concern and would say the Mercury Jacket could be a great option!

Other jackets you might be keen to check out are the Macpac UberLight Down or the Macpac Astral Hybrid jackets.

If you have any other questions, get in touch with us at customercare@macpac.co.nz

I am about 6ft3 and 13 stone. I wear a large jacket for Katmandu but would you recommend medium for Macpac? I've heard they are a bit bigger.
Jonny on Jul 10, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hi Jonny, I would recommend a Large, I’m 6’0 and 90kg and use a Large. I find that even though the medium might be ok in arm length and waste length, it would be too tight under the arms.

Hope that helps.
Jason

Macpac Men's Mercury Hooded Down Jacket
Macpac Men's Halo Hooded Down Jacket

BEST ANSWER: Hi Carey,

The Halo would be slightly warmer than the Mercury. Even though the Mercury has a slightly higher fill power, the Halo has more fill weight, making it slightly warmer.

Thanks,

Does this jacket have more fill than the Uber and Uber light?. I'm looking for a jacket for the colder days without looking like the Michelin man
Daniel on Feb 19, 2021

Yes, the fill weight of the Mercury is higher than the Uber range.
Is a good option as a middle ground between the Uber range and Halo jacket.

how does this compare to the halo down hooded? warmth and bulkiness wise?

Macpac Men's Mercury Hooded Down Jacket
Macpac Men's Mercury Hooded Down Jacket
Macpac Men's Halo Hooded Down Jacket
Macpac Men's Halo Hooded Down Jacket
BEST ANSWER: Hi Michael,

The Mercury isnt as warm as the Halo Hooded, with the fill weight of 136 g for a Medium compared to 219 g in the Halo Hooded. This also means the weight of the Mercury in a Medium is 390 g and the Halo Hooded is 590 g.
The Mercury is a more slim fitted jacket and not as bulky.

The Macpac Team
