Macpac Sololight One Person Hiking Tent

  • Product Description
Our lightest tent, the Sololight is engineered for minimal weight, optimal space and weather protection. Weighing in at just 1.29 kg, this one person hiking tent has a single ridge pole, Multi-Pitch™ design with two small struts (one at each end) to maximise space. The Multi-Pitch™ system offers ultimate versatility when it comes to uncertain weather conditions, allowing you to pitch both the fly and the inner independently of each other. The waterproof UV20™ PE fly is factory seam sealed to provide a 1,200 mm hydrostatic head — striking the balance between weight and performance with silicone coatings on the outside to repel moisture and PE on the inside to ensure it's waterproof during those unexpected downpours. Similarly, the waterproof 'tub floor' design is made from lightweight ripstop nylon featuring a 10, 000 mm hydrostatic head rating, effectively removing the need for a separate footprint. With mesh used extensively throughout the inner, the Sololight allows for greater airflow in warmer climates. A large vestibule enables sheltered cooking and gear storage, while the DAC Featherlite® NSL™ poles are strong, stable and 'green anodised' to minimise the use of toxic chemicals during the production process. A great tent for solo adventures.

Hey, Im just wondering whether I would comfortably fit in it as I'm 6'4" (about 193cm)?
Julian W. on Jan 19, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hello Julian,

Yes you would fit, the tent is a total of 220 cm long.

Kind regards,
The Macpac Team
Can I set up the macpac sololight tramping tent in the rain? Can i pitch the outer then crawl inside and set up the inner?
Tory N on May 29, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Basically you can't because the central pole is attached to the inner tent so it has to go up first. If you wish to pitch the tent in the rain you'll have to work quickly. However, I've just thought of something. In the tent equipment there is an extra strap that is used to hold the central pole in it's bowed shape when you do wish to just pitch the outer shell. If you use this then it SHOULD be possible to pitch the outer first and then attach the inner from the inside. I haven't done it this way as I've never pitched the tent in the rain. I'd practise it in the dry before trying it in the rain.
What are the max and min measurements of the bathtub floor? Can the tent be pitched if the jakes foot is broken?
Fannypack on Sep 13, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hi Dov,

The widest part in the centre is 880mm.
The narrow part (at feet) looks to be around 660mm.

Depends which part of the Jakes foot is broken. The jake’s foot is an integral part to this design - we have spares in repairs (usually).

Thanks,
The Macpac Team
I love my Microlight and now use mostly just the fly to create added space but will the Sololight give me bit more space and height? Any other improvements over the Microlight? Maybe it's not as tough?
Kayaks on Feb 7, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hello Ian,

The Macpac Mircolight tent perform better on almost every aspect except for weight. The Sololight tent is the lightest we have to offer and is slightly smaller than the Mircolight.

You can see all specifications under Product Specifications on both tents.

Kind regards,
The Macpac Team
What is the headroom like in the tent? I'm 185cm and could I sit up without hitting the roof of the inner?
Andrew G on Sep 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Not comfortably. I'm 168 and could sit comfortably. The headroom is good whilst you're sitting right in middle but you'd probably touch the inner getting in to that position.
How fo i attach the inner to fly when using both? Sololight Tent (new)
Sally T on Apr 25, 2019
BEST ANSWER: There are two ways in which you attach the inner and outer sections. First, at either end of the tent there is an oval ring into which you insert the tube shaped attacher. Second, on the inside of the fly there are two velcro bands which you attach to the metal poles. It's not the easiest tent to pitch but it has just kept me dry in a couple of rain storms and a snow storm in Pine Valley Tasmania.
