Why we made this
Designed for high-intensity activity, the Tempo’s Pertex® Shield Air waterproof shell provides highly breathable protection at a reduced weight.
  • Product Description
Designed for wet weather trail running, cycling or multi-sport, the Tempo Rain Jacket features innovative Pertex® Shield Air fabric technology for highly breathable, waterproof protection on the go. A minimalistic style, this lightweight jacket has an air permeable ‘electro-spun’ nanofiber membrane, which allows airflow through the fabric whilst remaining waterproof — thus providing comfort during high output activities in different environments. Made for movement, an internal storm flap dome closure allows you to fully un-zip this jacket for maximum ventilation, but still keep it in place while running. A low profile hood with a mouldable peak and rear Velcro adjustment allows you to stay covered in rain, and when the skies clear, you can roll the hood away and secure it in place until the next downpour. The external zipped chest pocket provides storage for small essentials, while the internal stretch mesh pocket is a place to pack the jacket into — ideal for travelling or packing your gear bag.

How does the Fitzroy Alpine jacket compare to the Macpac Tempo Pertex® Rain Jacket — Women's, in particular for being waterproof? The specifications state the same hydrostatic head and the same DWR fabric coatings but the description here says water resistant. In store I was informed this jacket is waterproof, the above reviews state it is not.

The material used is waterproof but as the Fitzroy isn't seam sealed, then it is technically only water resistant. The Tempo on the other hand is seam sealed so fully waterproof. The Tempo also uses a different main material, being the Pertex Shield Air, a light weight, waterproof material.

Is this waterproof in moderate to heavy rain?
Julz99 on Apr 4, 2021

Yes, this would be waterproof. The Tempo has a waterproof rating of 10,000mm.
Another lightweight and waterproof option would be the Traverse Jacket, which has a waterproof rating of 20,000mm.

Hi, what’s the dernier of the fabric? Would this be appropriate / durable enough for back packing / multi day hiking? Thanks
