Why we made this
Designed for weight-conscious climbers, this down jacket is engineered for an exceptional warmth-to-weight ratio and improved moisture management.
  • Product Description
Designed for weight-conscious climbers, this innovative down jacket is engineered for an exceptional warmth-to-weight ratio and improved moisture management. The ultralight Pertex® Quantum outer shell with a DWR fabric finish is soft and light, allowing insulation to fully loft within. For the insulation, two types have been combined: water-resistant HyperDRY™ RDS goose down and PrimaLoft® Gold synthetic insulation with Cross-Core Technology™. HyperDRY™ goose down is through the body, arms and hood of the jacket, and then in moisture prone areas (chin, shoulder and cuff panels), PrimaLoft® Gold synthetic insulation with Cross-Core Technology™ has been used to maximise thermal efficiency when climbing in snowy, damp conditions. Cross-Core Technology™ features silica aerogel, a highly porous, low-density structure that forms a temperature barrier, effectively providing the same warmth at less weight. Fusing this technology with premium Primaloft® Gold synthetic insulation and then pairing it with technical, water-resistant HyperDRY™ RDS goose down, we’ve created a high performance insulation piece that achieves a previously unattainable level of lightweight warmth. Excellent jacket. Superbly made. Super comfortable.
Wore my icefall to Everest Base Camp, Nepal in March 2020. Never missed a beat. In constant sub-zero temperatures, I was always warm and dry. Climbed to Kala Pattar before sunrise (minus 25 degrees) jacket was superb and cut out the wind. Perfect mid or outer layer. Highly recommend!

Great jacket
Use it for bushwalking, Sth West Tasmania last summer just before lockdown. Great jacket, warm, packs down small, use it in your sleeping bag for extra warmth. Haven't worn it for its intended active use, but works for me! Rob

Thumbs up
Great warmth for the weight and packing size, really like the idea of non down fill in the areas that get damp. Nice high neck and good sized hood that isn't too bulky n restrictive. I've got an uber light weight jacket also which is way cheaper, bit lighter n smaller but this is definitely warmer n more solid feeling jacket if want to go.next level.

Which jacket is warmer. The Icefall or the Arrowsmith?

Which has better mobility in the arms?
Mackenzie on May 22, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hello,
The Arrowsmith will be significantly warmer, both should have good arm movement, however because the Icefall is a slimmer jacket it will be easier to move in.
Thanks, the Macpac Team.
