Why we made this
Light and luxurious, the Jupiter has a high warmth-to-weight ratio with 650 loft RDS duck down for cosy warmth.
  • Product Description
The sister of our men's Mercury Down Jacket, this cosy insulation layer is made with ultralight nylon fabrics, both of which (outer fabric and lining) are bluesign® approved. This certification confirms these specific fabrics have been manufactured with responsible use of resources and the lowest possible impact on people and the environment. To complement these fabrics, we’ve used 650 loft RDS duck down fill for warmth — the ‘RDS’ stands for the Responsible Down Standard, which is an independent global standard for the ethical sourcing of down, a standard we wholeheartedly support. To aid heat retention, we've added a soft elastic binding to the cuffs, hood and hem, effectively helping to trap heat against your body and keeping the cold out.

Jupiter hooded down
Warm and comfy. True to size. It was crinkled when it arrived but after some hanging and wearing time they have almost gone.

Red jacket - a beautiful red! Size 14 fits well with usual winter clothes underneath. Extremely warm, for wearing to work, walking the Dogs’s, and put on cold evenings ??

Light as a feather
Light, warm, looks good, sizing needs to be updated for modern sizing on women it’s almost like your size is actually the next one down ( therefore it doesn’t fit ), take a leaf out of Kathmandu, they’ve updated their fits.

Very Light, Very Warm
Warm and roomy, and certainly aesthetically pleasing.
I was surprised at how wet the cuffs and sleeves became during what was a fairly low-key late afternoon walk, with only moderate sweating. This isn’t something I’ve noticed before, as my other down jacket comes from the Macpac alpine series (I’ve slept in it, among other tramping-related things, and feel like I’ve put it through its paces). This considered, the Jupiter feels like one best worn with long geothermal or merino sleeves.
Still, very light and very warm. Amazingly warm, actually.

Is this can be pack into small piece?
clarista on Jun 3, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hi Clarista,

Thanks for your question.

This can be packed into the left hand pocket.

Thanks - the Macpac Team
Is this jacket suitable for between 0 and 6C please?
Melissa M on Jun 8, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Two wool layers underneath this jacket - 0 - 6c - maybe? It is a bargain at the reduced price - packs down nicely and fluffs up easily. I love the colour and design of this new jacket - it is lighter than my very well worn and loved 'Sundowner' Macpac' - which I have had many years.
what is the best way to fluff up your jacket after it has arrived in its bag?
R P on Apr 30, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Wear it / use it / store it hanging up on coat hanger. This will improve with time over the first week or two.

Thanks the Mapcac Team
Is there a particular way of putting it back in the pocket?
Richo on Apr 28, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hello Steve. You just need to keep pushing it in just like a sleeping bag. Thanks the Macpac Team

I’m a size 12 in bust and hips but a size 16 in waist. What size should I order?
Lisa M on Apr 19, 2020

We would recommend taking measurements against our size guide https://www.macpac.co.nz/size-guide.html

Or for the best fit head into your local Macpac store and try the product on for the best fit as each style fits differently.

Kind regards,
The Macpac Team!
I know it’s not waterproof but is it a bit hydrophobic ? Like in really light rain or light snow ?
Camille T on Apr 17, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hello Camille

The Jupiter hooded down jacket would be suitable in really light rain or light snow however if it got heavier the moisture would soak into the jacket.
If you want it to be waterproof we recommend using a rain jacket over top: https://www.macpac.com.au/womens/jackets-vests/rain-jackets

Is the Jupiter womens jacket longer than the Halo womens Jacket in the same size?
Narelle M on Apr 3, 2020

The measurements of each the Halo and Jupiter jackets are (from size 8).
- Jupiter: 69cm
- Halo: 70cm
There's only about 1cm difference.

Kind Regards,
The Macpac Team!
Is it waterproof?
Andrea R on Apr 1, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hello Andrea,

No sorry down jackets aren't typically waterproof. You would need to consider using a rain jacket over top: https://www.macpac.com.au/womens/jackets-vests/rain-jackets

We hope this helps, the Macpac Team
Will this be suitable for a cold European winter?
Ingrid B on Mar 9, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hello Ingrid,

This is a warm jacket. But it depends on where you are going. Spain in the winter can still be quite 'warmish', and if you are going further North (eg Norway) it's a good choice, but you might need a layer or two underneath.

Kind regards,
The Macpac Team
What kind of fit is this jacket slim or slightly roomy?
Anna H on Feb 22, 2020

It's fitted shape.
