Why we made this
Proven to protect you from the worst of the weather while hiking, the longline Resolution Pertex® Rain Jacket is designed to be waterproof, breathable and durable.
  • Product Description
This classic hiking jacket is engineered for performance and comfort when out and about in stormy weather. Designed with a fully seam sealed Pertex® Shield Pro three layer outer shell, the Resolution is a long waterproof jacket that is both breathable and durable. A microporous PU membrane contributes to the shell's 20,000 mm hydrostatic head rating but just as importantly, allows your body to breathe during high intensity activity — helping you to stay comfortable while on the move. Double storm flaps with an inner map pocket and an adjustable hood that can roll away, also help to protect you from the weather. Handy cargo pockets and a water-resistant YKK® AquaGuard® zip chest pocket are pack-compatible so you can access them while hiking — adding the finishing touch to a great all-round rain jacket. Please note that the YKK® AquaGuard® zip is water resistant but not waterproof.

Macpac resolution
I brought this jacket based on reviews as an alternative to a hunting jacket. The zip is indeed a pain. Even in the shop with warm dry hands I had difficulty. Hopefully I will get used to it. Yet to use it.

Good, but not ideal
I bought the jacket a couple of months ago mainly to be used in the winter/rain Sydney season. I'm very happy with fit, protection against rain and wind, quality of materials and manufacturing. It overall has premium feel and nice look. Having said that, there are two not so nice "features" I have to point out:
- main zipper is very difficult to fasten, the two small parts need to be aligned perfectly together and the material around is quite stiff, making it challenging especially in rainy and windy weather. Forget if you wear gloves.
- there's a piece of soft fabric that is supposed to protect your chin and mouth when the jacket is zipped up. Unfortunately if you don't zip it to the very top, it sticks out and if it's raining a bit it gets immediately wet. I couldn't find any way to tuck it inside the jacket and I'm seriously considering cutting it out.

Great water and wind protection, annoying zip
I've used this jacket tramping in the Tararuas and Marlborough Sounds this winter, and for general outdoor work. It's water protection is excellent - I'm always dry underneath.

I'm a size "tall/skinny" and the medium has plenty of length in the sleeves and torso - something I often struggle to find - while still having plenty of room for warm layers underneath.

The only annoying bit is the zip. It zips from top and bottom, and the bottom part constantly unmeshes, and is very hard to zip back up to remove - almost impossible with cold hands. When I'm, wet, cold, and tired, and get to a hut, I don't want to have to struggle with a zip for 5 minutes.

I took this coat round the Tongariro Northern Circuit and during the crossing section, in full cloud, wind and constant rain for 5 hours, I came out at the hut completely dry on my torso. The hood was very adjustable for changing conditions and the lengths of the full coat and sleeves was probably just right for functionality and protection. Quite impressed.

Does this jacket have a double front zipper?

BEST ANSWER: If you mean, does it zip up from the bottom as well as the top then yes. It only has the one zip plus a storm flap though
