Abrasion resistant, seam sealed protection, with all the adjustability you need to stay dry wherever it's raining.
  • Product Description

The Zephyr is a rain jacket for versatility on-trail, and around town.

Its lightweight Reflex™ 2.5-layer fabric is waterproof, breathable, and abrasion resistant. It's fully seam sealed to keep moisture out, and an additional DWR treatment helps water bead and roll off its surface.

The back of the hood, cuffs, hem — and the stiffened peak — can be adjusted for maximum coverage, visibility, and freedom to move. An additional storm flap ensures the wet stays out, and there's an internal zipped chest pocket to keep valuables in when it's really pouring.

Compared to our wider range, this jacket sits between the Dispatch and the Traverse.

bluesign® approved means this fabric has been manufactured with the responsible use of resources.

We are transitioning the finish on this style to be PFC-free. You can identify if your garment has a PFC-free finish by the swing tag on the garment. To learn more about how to care for your PFC-free wet weather gear check out our blog post.

Not water proof
Abrasion resistant which was a plus walking in South West Tasmania, but very disappointed with it's performance in rain. A new jacket, first trip and it didn't bead water as it should, so got wet and cold. Well made, comfortable just a big fail on something kinda important.

I use as a Ski jacket, arm pockets would be great.

Great rain jacket
Fits well. I bought it as a new replacement for an earlier similar jacket

Not waterproof
Purchased this as I was told it was the best rain jacket after the Traverse.
Went for my first hike and within 20 minutes of waking in light rain I was wet.
Very disappointed as you would think a hiking raincoat would be waterproof in light rain, at the very least.
Only recommend for commuting to and from work etc in light rain for very short periods of time.

Good value at sale price
Good jacket overall and the elastic sleeve cuffs are terrific as it's so much easier when you need to take the jacket off. A feature that cheaper jackets don't have. Fit was good. Has many packets so great for storing items of various sizes while hiking. Front chest pocket handy for maps/phone. Visor on the hood is a great feature as this keeps the rain out of your face. Blue color looks pretty smart. We did 280km of El Camino (French route) over 3 weeks under mostly wet conditions and jacket performed well. However it does seem to eventually let in some moisture after consistent rain. Would have been nice if the hood rolled up out of the way but not a huge issue. I bought this when it was a 40% off sale - at that price I'd say it's a good value product.

Good for the price point
Nice simple everyday raincoat. Bit boxy in the cut (good for fitting a fleece or puffer under in cold wx). DWR wore off quickly and reproofing hasn't restored full performance so face fabric wets out more than my reflex jacket (Zephyr is pertex).
It's a hip length jacket not a tramping raincoat

Best rain coat. Slightly expensive @ $180 in 50% sale. Very well made and does the job in most conditions but the hoody does not hold itself in windy conditions. Overall B+

10 Questions
Is this jacket warm?

Hello Dimi, the Zephyr offer protection from the rain, but no warmth as such (ie no down / fleece inside).

Thanks the Macpac Team

Is this rain jacket windproof as well ??

Yes, not 100% like something specifically designed for it, but I wore this through Iceland with some crazy winds and was able to replace the need for a down jacket in many circumstances as it was so warm in the wind and cold.

Does it pack into a pocket?

I agree with Kyle. If you want to then put it into your pocket, it would need to be one of those larger one on your thigh in long pants.

I bought a 3XL Halo jacket today will this go over it?

Thanks for your question Steven. The zephyr might be a bit of squeeze to get over your halo as it is on the bulkier side for a down jacket. I would recommend if possible to go to your nearest Macpac store to try this and get a real feel for the fit as you may need to go for a different model.

Thanks the Macpac team.

What's the back centre length?

Hi,

Base size Medium is 80cm from back of neck to back hem. Each size is roughly 1.5cm different.

Thanks,
the Macpac team

Is the red version true to the picture or is it a more dull colour?

It’s pretty close to the picture, maybe slightly more burgundy/maroon than red but not much.

How small and heavy is it packed away please?

You can roll it up like a sausage about 200mm long and 50mm wide. Very light.

Does this have a DWR finish or other coating?

It uses reflex material which is waterproof and the rain beads and runs off. Has just managed several hours in west coast rain ok.

Waterproof or water resistant?

Hello Nathan, this jacket is indeed waterproof with a hydrostatic head rating of 15,000mm. This jacket wouldn't be recommended for all day rain, but a rain shower of an hour or two - perfect!

Thanks the Macpac Team

does the back of the hood have velcro or a cinch?

Sealed seams. Appears hardy
