Why we made this
Designed and tested in New Zealand, the Torlesse 65L Hiking Pack is hard wearing and hard working — whatever your adventure.
  • Product Description
We’ve been designing packs for the world’s toughest outdoor conditions since 1973 — our Torlesse range was designed to satisfy the need for fully featured, general purpose hiking packs that suit New Zealand 'tramping' conditions. An alternative to traditional canvas, the Torlesse range features a combination of Cordura® and nylon ripstop fabrics for backcountry durability in changeable weather. Designed and tested in New Zealand, these packs are comfortable with an adjustable AirFlo™ Flexi-Fit™ harness and supportive hip belt. Optimised for freedom of movement and comfort, this harness features anatomically-shaped shoulder straps and generous mesh padding through the back panels. A traditional top-loading pack with a large main compartment (with an internal base compartment divider and external zips), the Torlesse comes in a variety of sizes and capacities to suit your body and your adventure. This 65 litre pack — with a built-in rain cover — is perfect for multi-day hiking and travelling off the beaten track.

Suitable soap types are: pure soap, vegetable soap and Nikwax® Tech Wash®
Rinse the pack well and dry it in a well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight
Do not put your pack in the washing machine as this will void your warranty
Always try to keep the zip teeth clean — wash with fresh, clean water and lubricate with a silicon lubricant suitable for use on fabrics

Response from Macpac
Hello Bruce, it is in between the shoulder straps at the top of the pack, underneath the AirFlo Flexi-Fit Logo from the outside, or internally it is just under the horizontal metal bar on the back of the pack. Thanks the Macpac Team

Excellent Pack!
I bought this in a Boxing Day sale two years ago and it's the best pack I've ever had! Have taken it to the Kawekas, National Park, Hollyford and more. Even slid down the scree on the side of Mt Taranaki and it didn't get damaged at all :) Pack is completely waterproof, extremely durable and just the right size for overnighters and up to 5 day tramps. It comes with its own rain cover, which is super handy. I got the S2 - I'm a petite woman, but find it fits me perfectly. If I had one complaint, it would be the back isn't as breathable as some packs - but having a sweaty back is a minor issue!

Does this pack have a pocket for a water bladder?
Sue W on Apr 29, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It doesn't have an internal sleeve for a bladder, but the pocket on the front and either of the pouches on the sides of the pack near the bottom could hold a bladder and as long as the tube isn't too short it will work ok. At least an leakage won't wet everything inside the pack.
Does this pack have a bottom opening/compartment?
Kalalala on Jul 30, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it can join or be separated from the rest of the pack on the inside as well
Does this pack come in any others colours as I have seen it in red and it is not showing up online as having a red colour?

If this pack isn't full, can it be used as airplane carry on? i.e. stiff length maximum 56cm.
Karen B on Aug 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hello Karen, sorry we think the pack would be too long for carry on. Thanks, the Macpac Team

josie r on Jan 27, 2020

The AzTec is made from Eco AzTec® canvas, designed for durability and weather resistance, compared to the Torlesse which is made from Cordura® and nylon ripstop fabrics designed for lightweight durability.
