Why we made this
Designed and tested in New Zealand, the Torlesse 65L Hiking Pack is hard wearing and hard working — whatever your adventure.
-
Product Description
We’ve been designing packs for the world’s toughest outdoor conditions since 1973 — our Torlesse range was designed to satisfy the need for fully featured, general purpose hiking packs that suit New Zealand 'tramping' conditions. An alternative to traditional canvas, the Torlesse range features a combination of Cordura® and nylon ripstop fabrics for backcountry durability in changeable weather. Designed and tested in New Zealand, these packs are comfortable with an adjustable AirFlo™ Flexi-Fit™ harness and supportive hip belt. Optimised for freedom of movement and comfort, this harness features anatomically-shaped shoulder straps and generous mesh padding through the back panels. A traditional top-loading pack with a large main compartment (with an internal base compartment divider and external zips), the Torlesse comes in a variety of sizes and capacities to suit your body and your adventure. This 65 litre pack — with a built-in rain cover — is perfect for multi-day hiking and travelling off the beaten track.

Care
You are best to clean your pack with a natural, non-detergent soap and a soft-bristled brush
Suitable soap types are: pure soap, vegetable soap and Nikwax® Tech Wash®
Rinse the pack well and dry it in a well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight
Do not put your pack in the washing machine as this will void your warranty
Always try to keep the zip teeth clean — wash with fresh, clean water and lubricate with a silicon lubricant suitable for use on fabrics
Do not tumble dry, iron or dryclean

Does this pack have a pocket for a water bladder?
BEST ANSWER: It doesn't have an internal sleeve for a bladder, but the pocket on the front and either of the pouches on the sides of the pack near the bottom could hold a bladder and as long as the tube isn't too short it will work ok. At least an leakage won't wet everything inside the pack.

If this pack isn't full, can it be used as airplane carry on? i.e. stiff length maximum 56cm.
BEST ANSWER: Hello Karen, sorry we think the pack would be too long for carry on. Thanks, the Macpac Team

How can you secure a bladder in this pack to work alongside the hydration port? I saw some Velcro but that is no use to me.
BEST ANSWER: Hi There,
Some of our packs have velcro tabs to help secure the bladder, but after feedback from customers, the Torlesse doesn't have this. Most sit the bladder on top of their kit one packed.
Thanks,
The Macpac Team

Would this pack be suitable for a 5 night 6 day overland trek? The recommendation was ~70 L, and I'm looking for professional opinions from your knowledgeable staff. Also, what would be the option for bringing a day pack, is there a really small shapeless nylon one that could be stuffed in?
BEST ANSWER: Hi Elizabeth,
The size of the pack is relative to the gear you would be taking, but this would be a good option for the walk you are looking to do.
For the small day pack to be stuffed in, you would want to check out the Pack-It-Pack. Product code 115199.
Thanks,
